South African Fashion Week SS 11
South African Fashion Week SS 11 was a whirlwind of 24 brilliant shows in three days! Here's a review of some of the collections thats stood out.
MANTHSO
Biography
Palesa Mokubung hails from the small town of Kroonstud in the Free State, South Africa. She studied Clothing Production at Vanderbijlpark Technical College. During her studies, she was eager to find a parttime job to gain practical experience in the fashion industry. In an interview for a sales position with the newly established Stoned Cherrie, because of her designed and self-made outfit, she landed herself a position as a designer instead. She eventually became top designer for the company, which was at the crux of the fashion revolution that was shaping fashion trends through referencing indigenous cultures and historical figures in black South Africa. After working for Stoned Cherrie for three years and developing her own fashion philosophy, Mantsho was born in 2004.

Shala Monroque
Shala Monroque is one of the most stylist women I've learned about through blogging. She is the kind of person who makes any outfit interesting, especially because of her choice of accessories and the air of playful mystery she carries herself with. She is definitely a style icon for the modern woman.
